green teaWith only two more weeks left in our Better Body, More Energy challenge, I hope a lot of exciting things have started happening for you! Maybe you’re experiencing abundant energy (or at least more energy), a new outlook on health, or a brand new consciousness about your body. Maybe your day starts with a glass of water instead of caffeinated soda, and even if that is the change you take away from all of this, then I am happy you have made that progress!

Week 9 assignment: Embrace the three T’s

There are lots of little things that can add up to better health and well-being. Here are three — all beginning with the letter T!

1. Drink green TEA a few times a day. If you are a big coffee drinker, try swapping some of your coffees for green tea, which has less caffeine, making it less stressful on your body (while still giving you a boost). Green tea has many benefits, and one of them is that it can aid in raising your metabolism. It also contains antioxidants which strengthen the immune system and slow the aging process. And, green tea can help combat food cravings. All wins!

2. Get some TANJA! I know it sounds silly to plug myself, but I promise it’s all to benefit you! What I’m suggesting is that you get one of my DVDs — or any of Gaiam’s fitness DVDs that you don’t have — to add a new challenge to your workout routine. You can also find hundreds of fitness videos on GaiamTV.com. Make a change, get inspired, turn it up a notch!

3. TRY something new. Invest in a new book or a DVD about something you are curious about. How to read horoscopes, Asian cooking, how to build a tree house — anything that tickles your intellect and makes you think. Sometimes even 20 minutes is enough to give your brain cells a boost. Learning creates insight and strengthens your self image in so many ways.

Congrats on making it this far — You’re almost there! Let me know how it goes and Live Life Loud!

  2. Hi Achilina
    Thank you for you message:)
The fact is that all the core workouts are incorporating the spine and neck musculature too. I enjoy creating workouts which are made to strenghten the whole body. The body s ONE connected unit, and should be treated a such… If you have before exercised in a manner which excludes your for instance neck which a lot of old school fitness actually have done, please just go through the motions of he DVD’s slowly and with less repetitions. If you have an injury etc, it’s a different story. In that case you should consult with your doctor on waht exactly you CANNOT do, and then focus on what you CAN do! Remember to listen to what your body is telling you:)

  3. Tanja,
I just love the “Total Body Challenge” DVD that came in my balance ball kit; especially the sections for the upper body and core. I bought the kit to help me stay active/ toned after I injured my foot earlier this year. What other DVDs can you recommend that don’t involve a lot of standing? I love how so many of the exercises on this DVD are done sitting/ reclining on the balance ball! Thanks for your help.
