darkness

As the things in the darkness That whisper before they feast, They are to be placated and persuaded, They are to be loved and sacrificed to, They are to be prayed to and distrusted.

Not 'til the loom is silent And the shuttles cease to fly Will God unfold the pattern, And explain the reason why. The dark threads were as needful In the skillful weaver's hand, As the threads of Gold and Silver In the pattern that He planned.

The dark is everywhere; and though the sun comes up, And though the fires blossom and are tamed, The darkness is there, The darkness is waiting.

Watch them seeking to placate and understand the world above This they know. This they understand. There is darkness, everywhere, outside.

When spring is dancing among the hills, one should not stay in a little dark corner.

There is a shady side of life, And a sunny side as well, And 'tis for everyone to say On which he'd choose to dwell; For everyone unto himself Commits a grievous sin, Who bars the blessed sunshine out, And shuts the shadows in. The clouds may wear their saddest robes, The sun refuses to smile, And sorrow, with her troop of ills, May threaten us the while; But still the cheerful heart has power A sunbeam to provide, And only those whose souls are dark, Dwell on life's shady side. Then wear a happy heart, my friend, And fix your faith above; A Heavenly Father may afflict, But does it all in love. And they who strive to do His will, And read His word aright, With songs of triumph on their lips, Walk always in the light.

I only smile in the dark My only comfort is the night gone black I didn't accidentally tell you that I'm only happy when it rains.

An overcast sky doesn't mean a dark horizon.

[The Prajnaparmita, Mother of the Bodisattvas, Mother of the Buddhas . . . ] She is a source of light, and from everyone in the triple world. She removes darkness. . . . She brings light to the blind, She brings light, so that all fear and distress may be forsaken. She has gained the Five Eyes, and She shows the path to all beings. She Herself is an organ of vision.

We can only appreciate the miracle of a sunrise if we have waited in darkness.
