Cobbler's pose benefits and how-to from The Practical Power of Yoga

I’ve been wondering for years when the time would be right for this collaboration to take place. In times of crises, yoga has a great deal to offer, so this PBS program, The Practical Power of Yoga with Colleen Saidman and myself, is timely. It’s airing right now across the country on many PBS stations.

The title says it all. Colleen and I show you simple yoga tools that anyone can use, anytime. We demystify and simplify yoga so that no one is intimidated by its tradition or its practice. We explain its real benefits for the body — as in this segment on the benefits and how-to of cobbler’s pose — and for the mind and spirit.

So many people are benefiting from yoga in the 21st century …. We want to further break down any barriers that keep others from yoga, an essential tool for health and well-being in our modern world. With the power of TV tied together with the power of yoga, we believe we can make a compassionate difference in the world. Colleen and I thank PBS and Gaiam in furthering the reach of the heart of yoga.

In service and peace,

Rod and Colleen

  1. I saw you on PBS last night you were both so wonderful! The breathing down and up alone was priceless for me. I have always been interested in yoga, but it seemed so difficutl until I watched your show. I am ordering the video and hope to share it with the Sisters with whom I work with. Many women I work with have suffered from physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and/or sexual abuse. I feel your techniques will offer me another tool as a facilitator of Women’s Self-Empowerment. Thank you for sharing this wonderful modality with us. With Love and Light

  3. Hi Rodney & Colleen,

I bought your excellent DVD at the yoga-pilates conference in Toronto after fparticipating in your amazing session on doing forward bends without stretching your hamstrings. Thank you for this cool DVD with lots of support and many useful yoga tips. I retired from a 36 year teaching career in January and now my yoga practice is becoming such a vital part of my life. I completed a 200 hour month long teacher training course at the Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica in February. The universe seems to be leading me into this wonderful adventure into yoga. Namaste to you and Colleen for all you do to make yoga a life changing experience for anyone who is ready to make some positive life style changes.
    Many blessings,
    Catherine from Canada
