Woman working out listening to musicThe main thing that really fires me up for fitness is a superior song playlist. If I’m planning a long run or a hard workout at the gym, great songs make the time fly by and make workouts much more enjoyable. And music tempo is perfect for pacing yourself — slower songs to warm up and cool down, and pumping rhythms to keep the intensity up in between.

Here are my top 10 workout tunes right now — share yours in the comments section below!

1. “Give Me Everything (Tonight)” — Pitbull feat. Ne-Yo

2. “ET” — Katy Perry feat. Kanye West

3. “Fool in the Rain” — Led Zeppelin

4. “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard” — Paul Simon

5. “Down On Me” — Jeremih feat. 50 Cent

6. “Price Tag” — Jessie J feat. B.o.B.

7. “This Too Shall Pass” — OK Go

8. “I Will Survive” — Cake

9. “Starlight” — Muse

10. “Santeria” — Sublime

  1. I love “Starlight” by Muse. I exercise (and paint) to Muse a lot, “Invincible” and “Butterflies and Hurricanes”, and to Buckcherry “Everything,” Three Days Grace “Animal I Have Become,” Beyonce “Ave Maria,” “Halo,” Josh Groban “Weeping,” “If I Walk Away,” “Love Only Knows.”

  2. When I go to the Gym they always tend to play Lady Gaga and hard dance tracks which tend to set the pace rolling. Usually though I peak too soon after trying to keep up to the rhythm so it may be worth taking my own range of music and exercising to that. It may also stop me clock watching when on the equipment!

  3. C+C Music Factory’s “Gonna Make You Sweat” is one of my all-time cardio faves. i mean, “make you sweat” is right in the titles and they command you to….”Sweat….Sweat!” y’gotta love that kind of musical cheering squad! i use a rebounder as my primary exercise equipment, and another fave is is “Jump Around” by House of Pain (no Pain, no gain!). jump, jump, jump, jump….jump around!

  4. I try to rotate in new songs regularly to keep from getting bored, but Tom Petty’s “American Girl” and Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life” are ones that are always on my workout playlist.
