This Does Not Belong to Me

I have known for some time that negative or challenging energy is not part of me. At any given moment, I can choose to accept or reject something into my life, and I have often told my students that they do not have to accept old energy and thought patterns into their lives.

Recently while visiting John of God, I had an unsettling dream that brought into my awareness that I was processing out some very old energy. The dream itself felt and looked futuristic, but I was clear that it had to do with the remnants of very old energy that was still alive in my consciousness. I awoke from the dream enough to become aware of my surroundings and the thought entered my mind: “This does not belong to me.” Instantly, somehow, I knew this thought carried truth. I did not have to accept on any level that the energy or images of that dream were true for me. I began to chant, “This does not belong to me. I blanket myself with love and allow this old energy to dissolve into the field of peace and love.” It took a few minutes, but I began to calm down and rest without that old image in my mind.

I am clear that we are all at various times processing old ways of being. I believe it is part of the human experience. However, I am also clear that the moment we decide to let go of any attachment or unconscious connection to these thought forms, we initiate and activate our freedom path.

If you are struggling with a negative life experience, I invite you to choose a different path. We are not here to struggle or suffer. Declare, in this moment, “This feeling or emotion does not belong to me.” You may not feel the shift right away, but please know that this simple phrase is gently chipping away at the non-supportive energy.

Please affirm with me: “Today, I release any thought, word, deed or activity that does not belong to the perfection of my evolving soul.”

  1. Hello Cynthia,
I struggle with “thoughts” that I feel don’t belong to me. I grew up in a chaotic household and as I became an adult I got rid of a lot of the “toxic ways”. The one thing that I have troubles with is my thoughts. I have been spending a lot of time trying to rid my mind of things that don’t belong to me. I want to quite my mind so that I can focus on over all wealth. God has magnificent plans for all of us and I don’t want to waste his plans for me on fighting my thoughts. Do you have any suggestions beside what you have already shared? Something like audio mediation? Thank you for your article. ~Vanessa

  2. Thank you Vanessa. The thing is to fill your mind with more affirmative thoughts. I have an app called affirmative living guide for apple and droid. It sends new affirmative thoughts daily. I use it several times a day to keep me centered. Many of my clients use it as mini meditations. It is only .99. You can also go to my channel on YouTube. Lots of free videos to assist. Many blessings

  3. It’s a tricky thing, identifying the energy that’s really ours and someone else’s. Especially for those of us who are sensitives.

I’ve found recently that I’ve had to experience certain wounds again to fully release them. Stuff that I thought was long over with. The situations come up quickly and thankfully didn’t last long. It felt kind of like a last chard of energy moving through. Then it was gone.

We all have shadows and I don’t want to reject a side of myself that really is me. But I do want to acknowledge it and help it move through me. So (similar to Cynthia) I say “I release all of the energy inside me that does not support me now. I transform the energy that doesn’t support me to Love”.

If I suspect that the energy isn’t mine because of people I’ve spent time with (for example), I say “My own energy returns to me now”, and “Others energy leaves me now.” I do this one at the end of each day and find this one helpful.

This expansion of consciousness is such a significant time in human history and more and more people are awakening now.

Here’s something I wrote for folks who suspect they may be having physical symptoms of spiritual awakening. I hope this is helpful to some readers!
