Vega Get Energized Photo ContestOur friends at Vega are launching Vega Energizing Smoothie, a delicious and convenient nutrient boost!

Unlike traditional smoothie mixes, you only need water (or juice) to shake and go. Every serving also comes with two servings of veggies; 10 g of complete, plant-based protein; 5 g of fiber and 1 g of Omega-3. Available in four mouth-watering flavors: mixed tropical fruits, chocolate, vanilla almond and berries (plus an unflavored natural).

Get energized and win

Because we’re big smoothie fans here at the Gaiam office, we’re helping celebrate the launch by sponsoring Vega’s Get Energized Photo Contest! From now through July 31, head over to Vega’s Get Energized Photo Contest page on Facebook and show the world how you #GetEnergized.

Summer FruitThere is no better time to amp up your fruit intake than during the summer months. June, July and August offer us the best-tasting and widest variety of fruits, so go find a farmers’ market, or a conventional market with good produce, and start shopping. And remember, the wider variety of colors that you can include in your diet, the better. I’ve color-coded the fruits for you to make it easier to eat a rainbow each day!

The other day as I was putting groceries away, I made an unpleasant discovery: there was no more room in our freezer. We have one of those drawer freezers in the bottom of our refrigerator, which is supposed to be more energy-efficient than a top freezer. The trouble is, the drawer is so deep that once I put something in it, it seems to sink to the bottom and I forget about it.
