yoga inversion

A yoga teacher’s suggestion to invert has the power to illicit a range of emotions from students: bewilderment, fear, anxiety, aversion, rejection, excitement, butterflies — you fill in the blank.

Purposely turning ourselves upside-down is contrary to our physical nature, and yet the benefits of upending ourselves are many. I once had a client who was contemplating suicide. They did not see any reason for living and could find nothing in their life that was worthwhile. Every week, I prayed that this person would continue to show up and work with me.

Life through your own lens

I was recently in a conversation with someone about how we see life and experience the events that transpire. We both agreed that the experience is the result of our perspective. We look at life through the lens of “filters and beliefs” that color everything. We begin to respond to people, challenges and environments based on how we believe the world to be.
