Everybody always wants to know the secrets to how celebs bounce back so quickly after pregnancy. For Michelle Monaghan, it’s breast-feeding and eating organic.
The actress — who has shared the screen with Patrick Dempsey, Tom Cruise and Casey Affleck — gave birth to daughter Willow Katherine on Nov. 5. But when she stepped out for the New York City amfAR gala last week, it was like: Baby? What baby? And while most celebrities often credit breast-feeding as the sole source of helping them return to their pre-baby bodies, Michelle says it’s a combo of that, eating clean food and exercising.
“Honestly, I started working out after two-and-a-half months,” the star of films like Made of Honor, Gone Baby Gone and Mission: Impossible III tells People. “I have a trainer. I’ve just been lifting weights and breast feeding. And I eat really healthy and a lot, because I’m breast feeding … always organic. I frequent Whole Foods. I never really cared so much about my diet until I got pregnant and had a baby.”
I love how eating healthy has become so important. I’ve recently stepped up my exercise regimen and spent two days over the long, holiday weekend hiking. Before setting off, we stopped at our local organic market, where we loaded up on apples. There was nothing finer than making it up that mountain — surrounded by trees, dried leaves and chirping birds — and sitting on a rock to chomp on an apple. Putting clean fuel into your body is half the battle when it comes to a healthy lifestyle — whether you’re pregnant or not.
