Scarlett Johansson on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno

This is a first!

During an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Wednesday, Scarlett Johansson — who’s promoting her upcoming film Spirit — talked about how she was under the weather having caught a cold from her costar Samuel L. Jackson. She then jokingly said that she felt her illness had value because it had been passed from one celebrity to another.

So what did Jay do? He handed her a tissue, she blew her nose (twice) and she announced that she’d sell it on eBay to raise money for the hunger relief charity USA Harvest.

While most normal people would probably pass on buying a mucus-filled tissue, there have already been 62 bids on it and the selling price is currently $2,075.

The auction ends Monday.

This isn’t the first time the newlywed has sold herself. In March, Johansson auctioned off a dream date — a chance to be her guest at the premiere of the upcoming film He’s Just Not That Into You. The package, which benefited international relief organization Oxfam, went for a whopping $40,100.

Talk back!

Would you bid on Scarlett’s tissue?

How about a date with her?

  1. That is just nasty.

Couldn’t she just donate $10,000 herself and spare us her snot?

  2. At least she’s doing something. Kudos to her.

  3. This world never ceases to amaze me. Oddly, it doesn’t surprise me as much that she would think to sell snot. What surprises me is how much money people are willing to pay for it. Ultimately, if her snot is doing the world some good, I have no argument with it.

I can’t help but wonder where on earth she got this idea. I’m sure the free publicity is of some benefit to her career.
