Those who know don't talk.
Those who talk don't know.

Sometimes it's a form of love just to talk to somebody that you have nothing in common with and still be fascinated by their presence.

"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes - and ships - and sealing-wax -
Of cabbages - and kings - "

Those who talk the talk should be able walk the walk.

The spark that was to flare into the first A.A. group was struck at Akron, Ohio, in June 1935, during a talk between a New York stockbroker and an Akron physician.

Men will lie on their backs, talking about the fall of man, and never make an effort to get up.

The most called-upon prerequisite of a friend is an accessible ear.

Talking about things won't get them done. Nothing's happening unitl the work's begun.

It is not OK in this culture to talk to friends about causes you believe in, much less to ask them to join in. It's OK to blast perfect strangers with crass messages every hour of the day, but it's a tinge embarrassing, it brings up some shyness, it seems an intrusion, it risks rejection to share real heartfelt commitments. It's easier to share our cynicism with strangers than our dreams with friends.
