We cannot build the new culture for learning to which we aspire in an environment which is depressed and dampened every day by the impact of alcohol and drug abuse, and we should not, and we cannot, hide from that reality any longer. So I used to go for the show, no matter what subject it was. You could just drop in to a class and watch, it wouldn't matter if you went to the school. No one even asked. The show was good and you would learn something, but you wouldn't get any credit for it. I didn't need the credit

There are three requisites for good teaching: One, you have to love your subject; two, you have to know what you're talking about; three, you have to like students. The question is whether you can make an impact on somebody's mind and soul.
