Spirit

I thank God, that if I am gifted with little of the spirit which is able to raise mortals to the skies, I have yet none, as I trust, of that other spirit which would drag angels down.

We cannot fulfill our engagements with the Almighty without we have that Spirit with us. We should so live as to acknowledge the Good Spirit continually. We cannot do this unless we let the Spirit of God rule in temporalities as well as in spiritual matter.

A raise is like a martini: it elevates the spirit, but only temporarily.

Motive is also important in our quest for knowledge and in the questioning that accompanies it. Our attitude toward abortion . . . is fixed by our knowledge that according to an eternal plan all of the spirit children of God must come to this earth for a glorious purpose, and that individual identity began long before conception and will continue for all the eternities to come. We rely on the prophets of God who have told us that while there may be 'rare' exceptions, 'the practice of elective abortion is fundamentally contrary to the Lord's injunction, 'Thou shalt not . . . kill, nor do anything like unto it'

There is a spirit and a need and a man at the beginning of every great human advance. Every one of these must be right for that particular moment of history, or nothing happens.

One secures the gold of the spirit when he finds himself.

The spirit is the true self.

The noblest spirit is most strongly attracted by the love of glory.

It shows a brave and resolute spirit not to be agitated in exciting circumstances.
