A nation is not conquered until the hearts of its women are on the ground.
Then it is done. No matter how brave its warriors or how strong its weapons.

A Quote by unknown on society and apathy

The death of democracy is not likely to be an assassination from ambush. It will be a slow extinction from apathy, indifference and undernourishment. (Robert Maynard Hutchins, American pedagogue, 1899-1977)

There can be hope only for a society which acts as one big family, not as many separate ones. (Anwar El Sadat, president of Egypt, 1918-1981)

A Quote by unknown on society

in

This is an age when men value organizations more than their members.  When we force children to conform to our convenience, our schedules, our boundaries and our locked doors, we show them that we value the system more than we value them.

A Quote by Ven Payutto on wealth, buddhism, society, and generosity

According to the Buddhist teachings, wealth should be used for the purpose of helping others; it should support a life of good conduct and human development. According to this principle, when wealth arises for one person, the whole of society benefits, and although it belongs to one person, it is just as if it belonged to the whole community. A wealthy person who uses wealth in this manner is likened to a fertile field in which rice grows abundantly for the benefit of all. Such people generate great benefit for those around them. Without them, the wealth they create would not come to be, and neither would the benefit resulting from it. Guided by generosity, these people feel moved to represent the whole of society, and in return they gain the respect and trust of the community to use their wealth for beneficial purposes.

A Quote by Sir Crispin Tickell on nature, outside, ourselves, frontiered, foreign, separate, lost, follows, achieve, society, harmony, guided, and respect

As long as Nature is seen as something outside ourselves; frontiered and foreign, separate, it is lost both to us and in us. It follows that to achieve a society in harmony with Nature, we must be guided by respect for it.
