sharing

A Quote by Joseph K. Folsom on advertising, art, caring, christ, church, clothes, communication, control, emotion, exercise, food, health, home, honesty, learning, love, management, money, music, nations, needs, neighbors, people, sex, sharing, skill, sl

Important skills to teach young people in the home: The material processing skills, such as food handling, clothing, laundry, cleaning, taking care of what you have, throwing away or sharing with others what you don't need. The art of handling money. The arts of health management including sex, reproduction, nutrition, exercise, sleep. Mechanical skills, recreational skills, the art of managing time., The art of choosing wisely, (we have almost everything spread out before us and pushed on us by advertising. Do we feel sure that we always know how to choose wisely? The art of communication, the art of love (we need more in our own families, different peoples, cultural groups, races, nations.) The art of controlling our emotions, the art of learning a talent - love of music, and song, a love for church and Christ. The art of honesty, caring for your neighbor, volunteering. The art of studying and learning. (If we can learn all of this in the home before we leave the nest, how can we possibly go wrong.)

A Quote by Joseph Addison on consequences, discretion, errors, learning, life, mind, perfection, prejudice, rest, sharing, talent, value, virtue, weakness, wit, work, and world

There are many shining qualities on the mind of man; but none so useful as discretion. It is this which gives a value to all the rest, and sets them at work in their proper places, and turns them to the advantage of their possessor. Without it, learning is pedantry; wit, impertinence; virtue itself looks like weakness; and the best parts only qualify a man to be more sprightly in errors, and active to his own prejudice. Though a man has all other perfections and wants discretion, he will be of no great consequence in the world; but if he has this single talent in perfection, and but a common share of others, he may do what he pleases in his station of life.

A Quote by John William Gardner on america, certainty, commitment, freedom, greatness, people, and sharing

America's greatness has been the greatness of a free people who shared certain moral commitments. Freedom without moral commitment is aimless and promptly self-destructive.

A Quote by John William Gardner on belief, conflict, integrity, life, nations, people, sharing, society, and style

A nation is held together by shared values, shared beliefs, shared attitudes. That is what enables a people to maintain a cohesive society despite the tensions of daily life. This is what enables them to rise above the conflicts that plague any society. That is what gives a nation its tone, its fiber, its integrity, its moral style, its capacity to endure.

A Quote by John S. Stokes, Jr. on beauty, christianity, creation, divinity, faith, god, goodness, legends, plants, purpose, sharing, teaching, and truth

Christianity sees plants and flowers as created by God to show forth and share with humans the divine goodness, beauty and truth - the purpose of all Creation. In this flowers may be enjoyed simply and directly in themselves as showing forth God's goodness and beauty, or, more fully, as archetypes, signatures, symbols, and bearers of legends, mirroring the revealed articles of Christian faith - thereby serving as means for their teaching, recollection, contemplation and celebration.

A Quote by John Richard Jeffries on animals, business, lies, observation, reason, sharing, universe, and world

I have observed that almost all those whose labour lies in the field, and who go down to their business in the green meadows, admit the animal world to a share in the faculty of reason. It is the cabinet makers who construct a universe of automatons.

A Quote by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe on competence, errors, faults, nature, purity, secrets, and sharing

There is no trifling with nature, it is always true, grave, and severe, it is always in the right, and the faults and errors fall to our share. It defies incompetency, but reveals its secrets to the competent, the truthful, and the pure.
