The bend in the road is not the end of the road unless you refuse to take the turn.

If you miss the train I'm on...  just take the bus you idiot!. It's cheaper anyway and you'll save a few bucks. Or take a plane and you'll get there before me. In other words, it's not how you get there as long as you get there.
