projection

A Quote by Don Miguel Ruiz on right, wrong, beliefs, self, and projection

We learn to be right and to make everyone else wrong. The need to be right is the result of trying to protects the image we want to project to the outside. We have to impose our way of thinking, not just onto other humans, but even upon ourselves.

A Quote by J. (Jiddu) Krishnamurti on projection, thoughts, images, connection, spiritual perspective, life, and oneness

...it is important to understand, not intellectually but actually in your daily life, how you have built images about your wife, your husband, your neighbor, your child, your country, your leaders, your politicians, your gods--you have nothing but images. The images create the space between you and what you observe and in that space there is conflict, so what we are going to find out now together is whether it is possible to be free of the space we create, not only outside ourselves but in ourselves, the space which divides people in all their relationships...

J. Krishnamurti (1895 - 1986)

A Quote by Hal Stone & Sidra Stone on selves, relationships, and projection

The people in the world whom we hate, judge, or have strong negative reactions toward are direct representations of our disowned selves.

Conversely, the people in the world whom we overvalue emotionally are also direct representations of our disowned selves.

A Quote by Eckhart Tolle on now, memory, projection, past, and future

What you think of as they past is a memory trace, stored in the mind, of a former Now.  When you remember the past, you reactivate a memory trace -- and you do so now.   The future is an imagined Now, a projection of the mind.  When the future comes, it comes as the Now.  When you think about the future, you do it now.  Past and future obviously have no reality of their own.  Just as the moon has no light of its own, but can only reflect the light of the sun, so are past and future only pale reflections of the light, power, and reality of the eternal present.  Their reality is "borrowed" from the Now.
