A Quote by Frank Lloyd Wright on arrogance, change, honesty, humility, hypocrisy, and life

Early in life, I had to choose between honest arrogance and hypocritical humility. I chose honest arrogance and have seen no occasion to change.

A Quote by François Fénelon on achievement, admiration, belief, certainty, children, cleverness, conformity, faith, happiness, humility, ideas, innocence, integrity, men, passion, pride, profit, prudence, salvation, simplicity, spirit, stability, women,

There is a great difference between a lofty spirit and a right spirit. A lofty spirit excites admiration by its profoundness; but only a right spirit achieves salvation and happiness by its stability and integrity. Do not conform your ideas to those of the world. Scorn the "intellectual" as much as the world esteems it. What men consider intellectual is a certain facility to produce brilliant thoughts. Nothing is more vain. We make an idol of our intellect as a woman who believes herself beautiful worships her face. We take pride in our own thoughts. We must reject not only human cleverness, but also human prudence, which seems so important and so profitable. Then we may enter - like little children, with candor and innocence of worldly ways - into the simplicity of faith; and with humility and a horror of sin we may enter into the holy passion of the cross.

A Quote by Francis Quarles on desires, god, heart, humility, love, reason, strength, and virtue

If thou desire the love of God and man, be humble, for the proud heart, as it loves none but itself, is beloved of none but itself. Humility enforces where neither virtue, nor strength, nor reason can prevail.

A Quote by Florence Allshorn on character, church, experience, familiarity, god, humility, ideas, jesus, life, pride, quality, reality, relationships, and trying

We know so well what the unique quality was that held this great and beautiful pride and exquisite humility together. It lay in the relationship he held with God. We know the familiar idea of Jesus' oneness with God: only we deal with it too much as a doctrine of the Church, not as an element in Jesus' own experience. If we never find it in reality, in life, we cannot reveal the true Christlike character at all - we will always be trying earnestly to be something, but on too superficial and obvious a plane.

A Quote by F. Melvin Hammond on christ, humility, life, love, and water

Can we do too much for the Lord? Certainly we all love Him. Therefore, I implore us, keep His commandments and become more like Him. Come unto Christ, eat the bread of life, drink the living water, and feast on His limitless love. He is our Savior, our Master, of whom I bear my humble witness.

A Quote by Ezra Taft Benson on brothers, confession, god, humility, life, people, pride, service, and sister

The antidote for pride is humility - meekness, submissiveness. . . . God will have a humble people. Either we can choose to be humble or we can be compelled to be humble. . . . We can choose to humble ourselves by conquering enmity toward our brothers and sisters, esteeming them as ourselves, and lifting them as high or higher than we are. . . . We can choose to humble ourselves by receiving counsel and chastisement, . . . by forgiving those who have offended us, . . . by rendering selfless service, . . . by going on missions and preaching the word that can humble others, . . . by getting to the temple more frequently, [and] by confessing and forsaking our sins and being born of God. . . . We can choose to humble ourselves by loving God, adjusting our will to His, and putting Him first in our lives.

A Quote by Ezra Taft Benson on blessings, divinity, fear, god, guidance, humility, life, men, men and women, peace, prayer, serenity, soul, spirit, and women

There is no place for fear among men and women who Almighty, who do not hesitate to humble themselves in seeking divine guidance through prayer. Though persecutions arise, though reverses come, in prayer we can find reassurance, for God will speak peace to the soul. That peace, that spirit of serenity, is life's greatest blessing. .

A Quote by Ezra Taft Benson on change, church, humility, improvement, life, and repentance

As we cleanse the inner vessel, there will have to be changes made in our own personal lives, in our families, and in the Church. The proud do not change to improve, but defend their position by rationalizing. Repentance means change, and it takes a humble person to change. But we can do it.
