The forbidden truth is that we are living by a set of lies which are necessary for short-term profit, at the expense of human physical and psychological life and global environmental integrity. We are living in a system where power ensures that the requirements of profit take priority over the requirements of living things-including the need to know that this is the case. Consequently our freedom extends as far as, and no further than, the satisfaction of these requirements, with all else being declared neurosis, paranoia, communism, extremism, the work of the devil, or Neptunian nonsense.
We might sometimes reflect and recall that the purpose of all our science, technology, industry, manufacturing, commerce, and finance is celebration, planetary celebration. This is what moves the stars through the heavens and the earth through its seasons. The final norm of judgment concerning the success or failure of our technologies is the extent to which they enable us to participate more fully in this grand festival.
Human cultures progress through a dance of specialization and integration. The problem is that the human trait of abstract thinking has allowed our ability to specialize to outpace our ability to integrate knowledge. Thus, we know more and more details about nothing particularly relevant. Life becomes a game of trivia played between people who don't have an intrinsic understanding of who, or what, they are and who have little idea how larger social, scientific and cultural systems operate.
All the "freedom" in the world can not solve this problem, but rather leads to greater confusion. Lack of freedom throws us into panick and again causes confusion. We often seek grounding in religion or political movements, but the price of suspending our disbelief is our relinquishment of authority to others no more qualified than the rest of us. We can not afford, in our globalized, interdependent world, to turn over our otherwise intelligent minds to ideologies and theologies. We can not afford the divisiveness and arrogance inherent when one believes that theirs is the only way, the "right" way, and that other paths are "evil" or inferior even if they work very well.
If we declare our race to be HUMAN, our religion to be KINDNESS and our nature to be A WONDERFUL SPECIES OF PRIMATES, we will gradually learn to exercise rational control over our minds, our culture and our planet.
Biologist Rupert Sheldrake’s Morphic Resonance theory strongly suggests that cellular bioluminescence (which in humans ranges from ultraviolet to infrared) is both personal and transpersonal. In other words, not only is the individual human “networked” with DNA light emitters and receptors; it appears our entire species is morphogenetically networked much like individual cells that form a larger biological entity: humanity. This assertion has been substantiated by the Gariaev group, whose findings liken DNA not just to a holographic biocomputer but to a “biological Internet” that links all human beings. Many native wisdom traditions are based on an equivalent understanding of the universe (human inhabitants included) as a single living being intelligently networked like a biological organism.
