garden

A Quote by W. S. Merwin on awareness, culture, evolution, force, garden, guidance, life, people, plants, time, water, and world

In the time that I have been acquainted with this region I have become increasingly aware of it as a testament of water, the origin and guide of its contours and gradients and of all the lives - the plants and small creatures, and the culture - that evolved here. That was always here to be seen, of course, and the recognition has forced itself, in one form or other, upon people in every part of the world who have been directly involved with the growing of living things. The gardener who ignores it is soon left with no garden.

W. S. Merwin (1927 -)

A Quote by François Marie Arouet Voltaire on garden and idleness

"You are right," said Pangloss, "for when man was placed in the Garden of Eden, he was placed there ut operaretur eum, to dress it and keep it; which proves that man was not born for idleness."

A Quote by Vivian Elisabeth Glyck on birds, control, emotion, garden, life, energy, losing, love, plants, relationships, and time

Many things love to come and live off your plants, including bacteria, bugs, birds, and bunnies. If you don't control them, entire crops can be ruined. The result of your careful cultivation, in your garden and in your life, can be lost to predators in a short time. . . . Take a look at your life, what toxic relationships, substances and emotions are feeding on your energy and taking away from what you have to give to others. Eliminate them.

A Quote by Violet Fane on day, dreams, faith, garden, leisure, life, love, songs, and work

In green old gardens, hidden away From sight of revel and sound of strife, Here I have leisure to breathe and move, And to do my work in a nobler way; To sing my songs, and to say my say; To Dream my dreams, and to love my love; To hold my faith, and to live my life. Making the most of its shadowy day.

A Quote by unknown on acquaintance, day, garden, and world

Whatever else seems pleasant at first apprehension, at length becomes dull by too long acquaintance. But the pleasures of a Garden are every day renewed. A Garden is the only complete delight the world affords, ever complying with our various and mutable Minds.
