In the environment, every victory is temporary, every defeat permanent.

You can't mess with mother nature with impunity.

We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children. 

If the hole we've dug ourselves into is consumerism, it doesn't particularly help that your shovel is a fashionable shade of green.

For though we may be the Earth's gardeners, we are also its weeds.  And we won't get anywhere until we come to terms with this crucial ambiguity about our role - that we are at once the problem and the only possible solution to the problem.

I love a challenge and saving the Planet seems like a good one.

There are people who say that you should be able to be happy wherever you are, and how happiness is completely a matter of choice. I don't buy that. Cacti don't grow in Alaska and cedar trees don't grow in Arizona. I don't pretend to know the laws of nature, but it's clear to me that some things do better in some places and other things do better in others. I don't see why people should be any different... I prefer not to have anyone blow sunshine up my ass about happiness being total choice.

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.

We abuse land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us.

When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect.

Don’t disturb complicated systems that have been around for a very long time. We don’t understand their logic. Don’t pollute the planet. Leave it the way we found it, regardless of scientific ‘evidence’.
