A Quote by Jerome P. Fleishman on effort, encouragement, goals, jobs, joy, life, love, needs, niceness, people, praise, struggle, trouble, and world

Most of us, swimming against tides of trouble the world knows nothing about, need only a bit of praise or encouragement and we'll make the goal. Say "Thank you!" whenever you think of it. Say "Nice job!" to that workman who put extra effort into his task. Say "Atta boy!" to the fellow who is struggling through in the face of odds. You'll get a whale of a lot of joy out of life that way. And people will love you.

A Quote by Gordon MacDonald on absence, confusion, direction, emptiness, encouragement, garden, god, growth, guidance, metaphor, order, peace, potential, quiet, sharing, spirit, spirituality, tranquility, and wisdom

For me the appropriate metaphor for the inner spiritual centre is a garden, a place of potential peace and tranquility. This garden is a place where the Spirit of God comes to make self-disclosure to share wisdom, to give affirmation or rebuke, to provide encouragement, and to give direction and guidance. When this garden is in proper order, it is a quiet place, and there is an absence of busyness, of defiling noise, of confusion. The inner garden is a delicate place, and if not properly maintained it will be quickly overrun by intrusive under-growth. God does not often walk in disordered gardens. And that is why inner gardens that are ignored are said to be empty.

A Quote by Gertrude Jekyll on certainty, effort, encouragement, exercise, experience, faith, god, good, knowledge, love, success, wit, words, and work

The good gardener knows with absolute certainty that if he does his part, if he gives the labour, the love, and every aid that his knowledge of his craft, experience of the conditions of his place, and exercise of his personal wit can work together to suggest, that so surely will God give the increase. Then with the honestly-earned success comes the consciousness of encouragement to renewed effort, and, as it were, an echo of the gracious words, 'Well done my good and faithful servant'.

A Quote by George Matthew Adams on character, deed, encouragement, kindness, and success

Everyone who has ever done a kind deed for us, or spoken a word of encouragement to us, has entered into the make-up of our character and our thoughts, as well as our success.

A Quote by George Matthew Adams on encouragement, fame, life, success, and women

There are high spots in all of our lives and most of them have come about through encouragement from someone else. I don't care how great, how famous or successful a man or woman may be, each hungers for applause.

A Quote by George Matthew Adams on argument, encouragement, good, and opportunity

Note how good you feel after you have encouraged someone else. No other argument is necessary to suggest that one should never miss the opportunity to give encouragement.

A Quote by Dorothy Law Neite on acceptance, appreciation, approval, children, confidence, criticism, encouragement, faith, friendship, guilt, jealousy, justice, learning, life, love, patience, praise, ridicule, security, shame, shyness, tolerance, and wo

Children Learn What They Live If a child lives with criticism, he learns to condemn. If a child lives with hostility, he learns to fight. If a child lives with ridicule, he learns to be shy. If a child lives with jealousy, he learns to feel guilty. If a child lives with impropriety, he learns to feel shame. If a child lives with tolerance, he learns to be patient. If a child lives with encouragement he learns confidence If a child lives with praise, he learns to appreciate. He a child lives with fairness, he learns justice. If a child lives with security, he learns to have faith. If a child lives with approval, he learns to like himself. If a child lives with acceptance and friendship, he learns to find love in the world. With what is your child living?

A Quote by Colby Dorr Dam on blindness, dreams, emotion, encouragement, eternity, feeling, future, guidance, hope, idealism, learning, love, people, soul, study, thinking, thought, time, understanding, water, and wishes

Each person has an ideal, a hope, a dream of some sort which represents his soul. In the long light of eternity this seed of the future is all that matters! We must find this seed no matter how small it is; we must give to it the warmth of love, the light of understanding and the water of encouragement. We must learn to deal with people as they are - not as we wish them to be. We must study the moral values which shape our thinking, arouse our emotions and guide our conduct. We must get acquainted with our inner stream and find out what's going on in our heads and hearts. We must put an end to blind, instinctive, sensory thought and feeling. We must take time to be human.
