It is our choices, Harry, that show us who we truly are. Far more then our abilities.

He must understand that if he is the world's finest plum and someone he loves does not like plums, he has the choice of becoming a banana. But he must be warned that if he chooses to become a banana, he will be a second rate banana. But he can always be the best plum.

Loving yourself involves the discovery of the true wonder of you; not only the present you, but the many possibilities of you. It involves the continual realization that you are unique, like no other person in the world, that life is, or should be, the discovery, the development and the sharing of this uniqueness.

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.               

YOU DESERVE LOVE AND RESPECT JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE YOU

The word secure comes from two small Latin words: se meaning "without" and cure meaning "care"--being without care, freedom from anxiety. Victor Hugo articulates this very special sense in this lovely couplet:

"Be like the bird
That pausing in her flight
While on boughs too slight
Feels them give way
Beneath her, and yet sings,
Knowing that she hath wings."

Dare to conceive of greater things for yourself. Dare to see yourself as strong, confident, successful, and possessed of the patience and stability to keep on moving in the direction of your dreams.

"Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream you shall become.
Your vision is the promise of what you shall one day be.
Your idea is the prophecy of what you shall at last unveil."

The lover must often say, "I love because I must, because I will it. I love for myself, not for others. I love for the joy it gives me - and incedentally, only - for that joy it gives to others. If they reinforce me it will be good. If they do not, it also will be good, for I will  to love."

Great performers in all fields seem immune to what outsiders think about them. Their sense of themselves never depends on the feedback—positive or negative—they get from the environment.

To be a top performer you have to be passionately committed to what you’re doing and insanely confident about your ability to pull it off.
