Competitive companies are like balls of mercury rolling around on the ground after you break an old glass thermometer; they look like solid metal balls, rolling around as if they would bounce off each other. But just get them close to each other and they will gravitate to each other and merge seamlessly.

Take a risk. Be bold. Too often, people are afraid of losing their prestige inside a company by venturing outside it.

In sending an unsolicited proposal to a company, you have to think big, and you have to be bold.

Might I give counsel to any man, I would say to him, try to frequent the company of your betters. In books and in life, that is the most wholesome society; learn to admire rightly; the great pleasure of life is that. Note what great men admire.
