A Quote by David Belasco on clarity and ideas

If you can't write your idea on the back of my calling card, you don't have a clear idea.

A Quote by Dave Barry on argument, clarity, friendship, people, and respect

I argue very well. Ask any of my remaining friends. I can win an argument on any topic, against any opponent. People know this, and steer clear of me at parties. Often, as a sign of their great respect, they don't even invite me.

A Quote by Peter "Dale" Wimbrow, Sr. on authors, cheating, clarity, danger, day, difficulty, fatherhood, friendship, honesty, information, judgment, life, mind, money, motherhood, poetry, rest, reward, sons, struggle, tears, thought, time, wives, and wor

Peter "Dale" Wimbrow Sr. wrote the poem "The Guy in the Glass" in 1934. It was first published in The American Magazine at that time and the copyright was subsequently assigned to the author. The poem has become also known, incorrectly, as "The Man in the Glass," but the thought is the same. The message is clear. You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years, but you can't fool the guy staring back in the mirror. Since it was published, it has taken on a life of its' own and is usually seen as anonymous, but occasionally with someone falsely taking credit. Why would someone falsely take credit for a poem about being honest with one's self? For more information, see The Official Guy in the Glass website at www.theguyintheglass.com. The author's son, Peter Dale Wimbrow, Jr., may be contacted by e-mail at: pwimbrow@usacomputer.com. The Guy in the Glass When you get what you want in your struggle for pelf,* And the world makes you King for a day, Then go to the mirror and look at yourself, And see what that guy has to say. For it isn't your Father, or Mother, or Wife, Who judgment upon you must pass. The feller whose verdict counts most in your life Is the guy staring back from the glass. He's the feller to please, never mind all the rest, For he's with you clear up to the end, And you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test If the guy in the glass is your friend. You may be like Jack Horner and "chisel" a plum, And think you're a wonderful guy, But the man in the glass says you're only a bum If you can't look him straight in the eye. You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years, And get pats on the back as you pass, But your final reward will be heartaches and tears If you've cheated the guy in the glass. * pelf: money, riches

The Guy in the Glass

by Dale Wimbrow, (c) 1934

When you get what you want in your struggle for pelf,

And the world makes you King for a day,

Then go to the mirror and look at yourself,

And see what that guy has to say.

For it isn't your Father, or Mother, or Wife,

Who judgement upon you must pass.

The feller whose verdict counts most in your life

Is the guy staring back from the glass.

He's the feller to please, never mind all the rest,

For he's with you clear up to the end,

And you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test

If the guy in the glass is your friend.

You may be like Jack Horner and "chisel" a plum,

And think you're a wonderful guy,

But the man in the glass says you're only a bum

If you can't look him straight in the eye.

You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years,

And get pats on the back as you pass,

But your final reward will be heartaches and tears

If you've cheated the guy in the glass.

A Quote by Claude M. Bristol on achievement, clarity, desires, direction, effort, goals, idealism, justice, mind, power, thought, and time

The person with a fixed goal, a clear picture of his desire, or an ideal always before him, causes it, through repetition, to be buried deeply in his subconscious mind and is thus enabled, thanks to its generative and sustaining power, to realize his goal in a minimum of time and with a minimum of physical effort. Just pursue the thought unceasingly. Step by step you will achieve realization, for all your faculties and powers become directed to that end.

A Quote by Claude I. Taylor on clarity, commitment, communication, enthusiasm, leadership, needs, sharing, value, and vision

Certainly a leader needs a clear vision of the organization and where it is going, but a vision is of little value unless it is shared in a way so as to generate enthusiasm and commitment. Leadership and communication are inseparable.

A Quote by Clarence R. Randall on clarity and leadership

The leader must know, must know that he knows, and must be able to make it abundantly clear to those about him that he knows.

A Quote by Clarence Francis on belief, business, clarity, family, nations, problems, relationships, and world

I sincerely believe that the word "relationships" is the key to the prospect of a decent world. It seems abundantly clear that every problem you will have - in your family, in your business, in our nation, or in this world - is essentially a matter of relationships, of interdependence.

A Quote by Chuang Chou, a.k.a. Chuang Tzu, Chuang Tse Chuang on clarity, death, destruction, life, past, sage, teaching, present, and world

Nu Yu was teaching Pü-liang I to be a sage. It was three days before he was able to transcend this world. After he transcended this world I waited for seven days more, and then he was able to transcend all material things. After he transcended all material things, I waited for nine days more and he was able to transcend all life. Having transcended all life, he became as clear and bright as the morning. Having become as clear and bright as the morning, he was able to see the One. Having seen the One, he was then able to abolish the distinction of past and present. Having abolished the past and present, he was then able to enter the realm of neither life nor death. Then, to him, the destruction of life did not mean death and the production of life did not mean life . . .
