cheerfulness

A Quote by Walter de La Mare on cheerfulness and sharing

It's a very odd thing- As odd as can be- That whatever Miss T. eats Turns into Miss T. Porridge and apples, Mince, muffins and mutton, Jam, junket , jumbles- Not a rap, not a button It matters; the moment They're out of her plate, Though shared by Miss Butcher And sour Mr. Bate, Tiny and cheerful, And neat as can be, Whatever Miss T. eats Turns into Miss T.

A Quote by Walt Whitman on awareness, cheerfulness, contentment, and world

I exist as I am, that is enough, If no other in the world be aware I sit content, And if each and all be aware I sit content. One world is aware, and by the far the largest to me, and that is myself, And whether I come to my own today or in ten thousand or ten million years, I can cheerfully take it now, or with equal cheerfulness, I can wait.

A Quote by unknown on cheerfulness, earth, health, mind, morality, people, and work

Cheerfulness removes the rust from the mind, lubricates our inward machinery, and enables us to do our work with fewer creaks and groans. If people were universally cheerful, there wouldn't be half the quarreling or a tenth part of the wickedness there is. Cheerfulness, too, promotes health and morality. Cheerful people live longest here on earth, afterward in our hearts.

A Quote by unknown on cheerfulness, commitment, darkness, faith, fatherhood, friendship, happiness, heart, life, love, power, songs, sorrow, and soul

There is a shady side of life, And a sunny side as well, And 'tis for everyone to say On which he'd choose to dwell; For everyone unto himself Commits a grievous sin, Who bars the blessed sunshine out, And shuts the shadows in. The clouds may wear their saddest robes, The sun refuses to smile, And sorrow, with her troop of ills, May threaten us the while; But still the cheerful heart has power A sunbeam to provide, And only those whose souls are dark, Dwell on life's shady side. Then wear a happy heart, my friend, And fix your faith above; A Heavenly Father may afflict, But does it all in love. And they who strive to do His will, And read His word aright, With songs of triumph on their lips, Walk always in the light.

A Quote by unknown on cheerfulness and life

There's nothing to do anymore. Everything decent has been done. All the great themes have been used up, turned into theme parks. So I don't really find it exactly cheerful to be living in the middle of a totally exhausted decade where there's nothing to look forward to and no one to look up to.

Just to be tender, just to be true, Just to be glad, the whole day through, Just to be merciful, just to be mild, Just to be gentle, and kind, and sweet, Just to be helpful with willing feet, Just to be cheerful when things go wrong, Just to drive sadness away with a song, Whether the hour is dark or bright; Just to be loyal to God and right, Just to believe that God knows best, Just in his promises ever to rest- Just to let love be our daily key, That is God's will for you and me.

A Quote by Thomas Hood on birds and cheerfulness

No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease, No comfortable feel in any member - No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees, No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds - November!

We ought to feel deep cheerfulness that a happy Providence kept it from being any worse.

For who, to dumb forgetfulness a prey, This pleasing anxious being e'er resign'd, Left the warm precincts of the cheerful day, Nor cast one longing ling'ring look behind?
