awakening

A Quote by Neale Donald Walsch on world, future, consciousness, and awakening

The world is in the condition that it’s in because the world is full of sleepwalkers.

A Quote by Swami Sai Premananda on perfection, spirituality, awakening, personality, and life

How do you know how to be perfect? You do not know how to be perfect; you learn how to be perfect. It is the spiritual work that one does daily which awakens your world on the path to perfection. The world begins to reflect how to be perfect by experiences and actions, going on and around you all the time. These are the things that cannot be taught in books, as there are too many variances in behaviour and personality. The tough lessons of love and friendship happen throughout our own lives and we must seek to find the lessons of life hidden deep within all interactions.

A Quote by Franz Kafka on books, happiness, and awakening

If the book we are reading does not wake us, as with a fist hammering on our skull, why then do we read? So that it shall make us happy? Good God, we should also be happy if we had no books, and such books as make us happy we could, if need be, write ourselves. But what we must have are those books which come upon us like ill fortune, and distress us deeply, like the death of one we love better than ourselves; like suicide. A book must be an ice-axe to break the sea frozen inside us.

Franz Kafka (1883 - 1924)

A Quote by Andrew Cohen on universe, consciousness, life, enlightenment, and awakening

Its taken 14 billion years for matter to gain the capacity to become conscious of itself. If this is true, it wouldn't make any sense that the whole point of enlightenment would be to escape from the whole process at the very instant that the universe is beginning to awaken to itself.

A Quote by Ray Kurzweil on singularity, universe, technology, and awakening

As we gradually learn to harness the optimal computing capacity of matter, our intelligence will spread through the universe at (or exceeding) the speed of light, eventually leading to a sublime, universe wide awakening.

A Quote by Koyote on awakening, transformation, self-realization, and conscious living

"I am part of an ancient tradition, a tradition that has had in its hands the technology for awakening and transformation.  This ancient order, if you will, comes out of hiding for brief moments in time and then goes to the underground again.  I have been given only a few years to open the doors to this knowledge and we're about to close the doors.  Before we close the doors, I want to make this technology for self-realization available.

Now everybody around you is asleep, living a life that is mechanical, surrounded by fears, habits, and unconscious tendencies.  We cannot be free to do our Will when we are under the influence of the sleep of the massess.  We can teach people the practical methods for awakening, for attaining one's Will, one's goals, the technology for living a conscious life.  I believe that in six months we can teach them to awaken the machine at will and live the type of life they want to live."

There is none dwelling in the house but God. When a man is awakened he melts and perishes.

A Quote by John Welwood on love, relationship, awakening, soul, soulwork, spirit, freedom, and integration

While our absolute nature, as pure being or open presence, is timeless and changeless....our soul evolves and deepens through cultivating and embodying the seed potentials -- for courage, strength, generosity, humor, tenderness, wisdom -- contained in this larger nature.  The essence of spiritual work is to realize and continually reorient ourselves toward our being, our absolute nature; and this is what leads to ultimate freedom.  Yet spiritual realizations often remain compartmentalized, apart from everyday life, or become used as a rationale for living in an impersonal or soulless way.  That is why, if we are to live our realizations and bring them into this world, we also need to work on the vessel of spirit -- our embodied humanity.  Soulwork is the forging of this vessel......If spiritual work brings freedom, soulwork brings integration.  Both are necessary for a complete human life.

A Quote by John Welwood on love, relationship, awakening, awareness, healing, soul, potential, growth, consciousness, and expansion

Awareness born of love is the only force that can bring healing and renewal.  Out of our love for another person, we become more willing to let our old identities wither and fall away, and enter a dark night of the soul, so that we may stand naked once more in the presence of the great mystery that lies at the core of our being.  This is how love ripens us -- by warming us from within, inspiring us to break out of our shell, and lighting our way through the dark passage to new birth.

A Quote by John Welwood on love, awakening, relationship, soul, consciousness, expansion, being, shadow, ego, and false self

Like the sun's rays that cause the seed to stir within its husk, love's radiant energy penetrates the facade of the false self, calling forth resources hidden deep within us.  Its warmth wakes up the life inside us, making us want to uncurl, to give birth, to grow and reach for the light.  It calls on us to break out of our shell, the personality-husk surrounding the seed potential of all that we could be.  The purpose of a seed husk is to protect the tender life within until the time and conditions are right for it to burst forth.  Our personality structure serves a similar function.  It provides a semblance of security, as a kind of compensation for the loss of our larger being.  But when love's warming rays start to wake us up, our ego-shell becomes a barrier restricting our expansion.  As the germ of life swells within us, we feel our imprisonment more acutely.....The brighter love's radiance, the darker the shadows we encounter; the more we feel life stirring within us, the more we also feel our dead spots; the more conscious we become, the more clearly we see where we remain unconscious.  None of this need dishearten us.  For in facing our darkness, we bring to light forgotten parts of our being.  In recognizing exactly where we have been unconscious, we become more conscious.  And in seeing and feeling the ways we've gone dead, we start to revive and kindle our desire to live more expansively.
