Love is active.  It requires choice, decision and carries responsibility.  To be in love is to actively affirm your choices and decision and to accept the responsibility of caring for another's heart.

You do not find love; you decide to love.  Love does not happen to you; it happens in you. The risk of love is declaring that you have decided to love.  Your heart is open and you are exposed, hoping only for mercy from your beloved.

There are three kinds of love: instinctual, emotional and conscious love.  There is no challenge in the mastery of the first two they precede from human biology and frailty.

Love is powerful but, it needs an opening.  One of the greatest mistakes of love is the illusion that it can conquer all.  If your beloved isn't ready to receive love recognize the signs. 

Power is the ability to act. Wisdom comes from knowing what action to take.  Love in the hands of one, who has neither or one and not the other, is dangerous. 

The duty of love proceeds from logic.  A fundamental truth of love is that it is always for creation. It is also a fundamental truth of lovers that they can never know what is best for their beloved.  Therefore the harsh duty of love is to let go.
