A Quote by Raphie on love sadness loss disappointment

No matter how much you love, it might never be enough, and it might never be returned, or returned only for a time. With that recognition comes what might just be my least favorite part of growing up, knowing enough to expect so little that disappointments cease to disappoint.

A Quote by Raphie on santa hope belief faith childlike north pole yes v

Yes, Virginia, Santa still exists. He exists at least as much as he existed when first you asked that question of the New York Sun a little more than a hundred years ago. He doesn’t live on the North Pole, though. No, Virginia, he lives in your heart, in mine, in all of ours. And how do I know that? I know it always by the childlike faith we cling to that yet makes “tolerable this existence,” and by the intensity of the disappointment we still feel when that faith is injured.

A Quote by Raphie on personal political quantum mechanics theory relati

Personal and political are no less related than quantum mechanics and the theory of relativity. Societal norms are simply Newtonian constructions of the mind.

A Quote by Raphie on power vaccum rules spirit rational understanding h

Power abhors a vacuum. If humanistically oriented “spirit first” leaders don’t aspire to wield influence, then materially-oriented “money first” leaders will because their rules-based institutional structures are based upon a well-considered rational understanding of human nature that has proven itself successful time and again throughout recorded history. As such, the “rules of the game” are stacked in their favor because they have past precedent to argue their case. Many people with spiritually-inclined constitutions are co-opted into the “system” simply because there are no other viable alternatives.

A Quote by Raphie on art light melody eternity sorrow sun

Art, for me, is all about the Light in the most literal, but also most figurative, of senses... That place where all roads meet and the one becomes the many and the many the one like a brilliant sun; in that moment, in that instant we sometimes call "eternity" that light shines through as a smiled melody sounding through even the most shattering of sorrows.

A Quote by Raphie on death today tomorrow yesterday today sammi smith

Yesterday is never really gone. It's just a day later tomorrow than it was today. And seeing as it follows us wherever we go, I guess that makes it one ornery dead critter...
