A Quote by Marvin J. Ashton on ability, creativity, god, strength, and talent

Everything is given by God. All talent, creativity, ability, insight, and strength comes from him. In our own strength we can do nothing.

A Quote by Marvin J. Ashton on direction, gifts, god, guidance, promises, and strength

There is a gift available to all of us-the gift of looking to God for direction. Here is an avenue of strength, comfort, and guidance. . . . "Look to God and live." This is the wonderful promise given so often in the scriptures. . . . Our capacity to see and comprehend is increased only in proportion to our willingness to look. God becomes more approachable as we look to him.

A Quote by Marvin J. Ashton on destruction, media, mercy, privacy, time, and world

King David was pleading for mercy and cried, ". . . their tongue a sharp sword." (see Psalms 57: 4 & 64:3) In the world today we are victims of many who use their tongues as sharp swords. The misuse of our tongues seems to add intrigue and destruction as the media and private persons indulge in this pastime called bashing. If we follow the Savior's teachings there is no time for the dastardly hobby of bashing instead of building.

With God's help, good cheer permits us to rise above the depressing present or difficult circumstances. It is a process of positive reassurance and reinforcement. It is sunshine when clouds block the light.

A Quote by Marvin J. Ashton on commitment, fatherhood, influence, jesus, spirit, and time

He who invites us to follow will always be out in front of us with His Spirit and influence setting the pace. He has charted and marked the course, opened the gates, and shown the way. He has invited us to come unto Him, and the best time to enjoy His companionship is straightway. We can best get on the course and stay on the course by doing as Jesus did-make a total commitment to do the will of His Father.

Satan is ever present, trying to destroy our glory and remove our crown. One of his most powerful tools is discouragement. Don't let your discouragement make Satan rejoice.

In times of hurt and discouragement, it may be consoling for all of us to recall that no one can do anything permanently to us that will last for eternity. Only we ourselves can affect our eternal progression.
