In late 1978 news emerged concerning the successful filming of a New Guinea dragon, one of a population of such creatures found in southern Papua. However, it was still not clear whether these composed a new species. That issue was finally resolved in early 1980, during an "Operation Drake" expedition to the Papuan swamplands, led by an intrepid explorer, who had heard numerous native stories of these enormous beasts, and was regaled with tales of their ferocity and the danger to anyone seeking to capture one. He bribed the natives and before many days passed, he was duly presented with a real-life artrellia.
