There are a lot of sharks in Hollywood, but actress January Jones is leaving Los Angeles to get up close and personal with real ones.
The Mad Men star, who works with Oceana to protect and restore the world’s oceans when she’s not playing Betty Draper in AMC’s Golden Globe–winning show, is traveling to the Bahamas next month to participate in a shark dive to help save the sharks.
“I’m going to swim with sharks and do cage diving with Great Whites,” the 31-year-old told People. “We have a huge problem that can ruin the whole ecosystem. We need to save the sharks.”
She also recently chatted with Vanity Fair for their February issue about how saving the earth is more important than partying: “I don’t have a lifestyle where I’m going out getting wasted all the time,” the environmentalist said.
January’s event will take place on Feb. 1 in Bihimi.
