How to Let Go & Find Your Best Self

I value feeling good and being at my best. When I am my best self, I can do the things I really love to do — and I can do them well.

I love feeling creative, inspired and enthusiastic about my life. No matter what happens around me, I like to be able to center myself, connect to the guidance from within, and let go of fear, complaints or worry. I believe that when I feel this way, I am accessing my highest potential. And nothing is more important to me than being connected to my higher self.

What can you do when you’re irritated, annoyed, tired … ?

This past month — full of deadlines, new projects and a nagging knee injury — I found myself easily irritated, annoyed, tired and emotional. When I know I’m in this state, there is nothing more important than getting myself back to a centered  state. I know reaching that peaceful state will allow me to heal, do my best work, and go through the process with grace and ease. It’s time for me to stop, pay attention and get myself back into the flow of feeling good. It’s time to raise my vibration.

I decided to take a week and pay extra attention to the moments I was disconnected from my inner peace, creativity and joy. My intention was to bring more awareness to those moments and as they came up, see how quickly I could let them go. Whether it was getting annoyed at other drivers on the road, competitive with others who were achieving things I hadn’t achieved yet, or irritated that someone didn’t return my call, I found that by the end of the week, I got really good at noticing them and choosing to let them go.

Deepak Chopra says in his powerful book, Reinventing the Body, Resurrecting the Soul, “You let go so that the very best in yourself, your soul, can merge with you.” When I am letting go of the criticizing, judging, jealousy or negative energy, I am saying this is not me. It’s how I am temporarily.

If I find myself becoming easily irritated about little things throughout my day, my No. 1 priority is to get back into alignment with my higher vibe, my higher self, my better feeling place. When I do that first, everything else flows effortlessly and easily. All of those little annoyances and frustrations disappear — I simply don’t notice them. I let go.

Exercise: “I let go.”

  • Stand with your legs in a wide “V” position, and bend your arms in front of you.
  • Bend your knees deeply and straighten them slowly as you quickly slice your hands in front of you, like you are wiping your hands clean. (They don’t have to touch.)
  • Say out loud, “I let go.”

Try this move for one to three minutes. Close your eyes and visualize wiping clean all your negative thoughts. Feel the buzz as you let go, and celebrate the beautiful new world of possibilities you have just created.

The power to choose

We are blessed with the keys to our success because we have the power to choose to connect to our higher self — to raise our vibration or not. The potential to live the life we dream of — a life of abundance, health, success, love and inner peace — is just a choice away. Deepak Chopra goes on to say, “When we are living in alignment with our higher self, we allow ourselves to receive the gifts of the Soul.”

Every day is a new day. In any moment we can shift ourselves into or out of alignment. Practice paying extra attention to yourself, and recognize when you choose to disconnect yourself from your higher vibe. You always have a choice to live in alignment with your full potential and live a life you love in a body you love, now!
