Give What You Get in 2010

Happy New Year! Are you ready to have the best year of your life? If not now, when? One of the best ways to start is to shift your attitude this year [1] from “what can I get?” to “what can I give?”

Find your best self

The Sati lifestyle [2] is about challenging ourselves to go deeper and bring out the best in ourselves. By doing this we are not just improving our own life but we are also improving the lives of others.  We can blend our unique talent with service to others in order to experience our true self.  We are able to feel more alive, energized and life becomes a gift rather than a chore.  We can begin to truly live a life of love, a life we love, and a life well lived.

Share your gifts

This year I want to inspire you to look at things from a different perspective.  I want you to ask yourself the question, “what can I give, how can I serve, and what can I offer?”

Contemplating these questions will help unlock a deeper awareness of yourself.  You will begin to understand your unique contributions to the world—the things that only you can give. It is precisely your individual way of doing things, seeing things, creating things, and speaking about things that brings your gifts forth, and without you, they would not be possible.

Speak your peace

Practicing intenSati enables a deeper awareness into our selves and enables us to access these powerful gifts.  Try the upper body move, KARMA to cultivate a great sense of giving (and receiving!):

1. Say out loud the affirmation “What I give, is what I get.”

2. Say out loud: “What I give.”  Take a wide jump to the right, cross the left leg behind the right and bend your knees. With the elbows bent, roll your arms away from you as fast as you can. Keep your chest open. You are cultivating the power of giving form your heart center.

3. Now say out loud “is what I get.” Take a wide jump to the left, cross the right leg behind the left and bend your knees. With the elbows bent, roll your arms toward you as fast as you can. You are cultivating the power of receiving all the gifts life is offering you.

4. Alternate right and left for 1-5 minutes and each time call to mind all the ways in which you can give of yourself.

With one simple shift from asking yourself, “what can I give” rather than “what can I get,” you will unlock greater wisdom, clarity, compassion, courage and power to fulfill your dreams as well as supporting others in fulfilling theirs.

This shift in perspective doesn’t just have to be about our life’s purpose, it can simply be a question you ask yourself in every situation.  Get the most out of this year by giving more than ever before.

I hope this year is your best year ever and I look forward to giving you all I have to give.  I find my greatest pleasure in doing my work and finding new ways to offer you to do the same.

You are a gift. You are unique. This is a year you will never see again, so go for it! If not now, when?
