Feeling negative? Do this exercise to change your mindset.

On September 27, I got married. It was one of the most precious days of my life. In honor of our marriage, I’m dedicating the month of October to love. And I’m giving you an assignment that can transform negative feelings about any situation into an experience of love and happiness.

Love doesn’t happen to you. Love is a verb, and the more we give it the more we experience it. We all want to be loved, to be in love, and to love our life. But we forget that it really is a choice, and it depends on only one thing: How much are you willing to give it?

Before we can attract loving, happy people, great opportunities, health or abundance, we have to be mindful of the power of our emotions. Our emotions are our clear guidance system. Every being is always receiving a vibrational match to whatever they are offering. So the only thing you need to be responsible for is remaining in a loving state. There is nothing more important.

“If you would make a decision to never let a negative emotion linger, and acknowledge that it is your work alone to refocus your attention in order to feel better (rather than asking another person or situation to be different to be happy), you will not only be a very happy person, but also a very healthy person. What you do in terms of action is far less important than the thoughts you think, the way you feel, the vibrational balance or the story you tell.”

– Jerry Hicks in Money and the Law of Attraction

Your assignment — your practice for this month of love — is a very simple but challenging exercise of awareness and responsibility:

When you fall into a negative state of mind, ask yourself if you are willing to get out of it. Then find a way to get yourself out of it as quickly as possible. Practice the use of your willpower to refocus your attention or to tell a different story. When you realize how important it is to stay in a positive state, you will be less likely to give up your happiness for little things. Your joy and happiness is precious. Remember you are always attracting only what is an energetic match to what you are offering at any given time.

Worry less about what action to take and give more attention to keeping yourself in a positive state of mind.

Love,

Patricia
