Did You Mean: Gaiam

Gaiam is the perfect name for our company. A combination of the words “Gaia” and “I am”, it represents the ideal that we are all part of the single, living entity that is Mother Earth – or “Gaia” as the Minoan civilization called her.
However, such a name does present certain challenges. Even after three years with the company, I still find myself typing Giam, Gaim or even giaim sometimes. Most of it has to do with the fact that, after a decade of working on a computer, my fingers now move faster than my brain. But if I still slip up from time to time, imagine how often other people, having just heard of our company, type Giam, Gaim, or Giaim into the address bar or search engine when trying to find our website.
As the “search engine guy” here, I’m always looking at the keywords people use to find our website. You’d be surprised at the misspellings I see, including things like: Gayam, Guyum, and Gaium. This is why I’m so glad Google often knows what we mean, even when we don’t know ourselves.
So the next time you find yourself typing Gaim, Giam or Giaim into Google and get that “Did you mean:” message, don’t worry. You’re no more dyslexic than the rest of us. :-)
