Wanderlust Festival: Where Yoga Meets Music and Nature
This July, a new kind of festival will bring together the world’s leading yoga teachers and best rock ‘n’ roll performers in a breathtaking setting of natural beauty. The Wanderlust Festival, dedicated to both “spiritual and physical exploration,” will take place July 24-26 in Squaw Valley USA, Lake Tahoe, Calif. Gaiam is a sponsor of the festival, and our Yogamates.com editor Kasey Luber will conclude her 50 Days 50 Yoga Studios road trip at Wanderlust.
Practice yoga with the best
Festival-goers can spend their mornings in the Village at Squaw Valley getting centered in one of many classes led by some of the most notable names in yoga today, including Shiva Rea and John Friend. Wanderlust will feature many other distinguished instructors from San Francisco’s Yoga Tree studios.
Soak in the music
Afternoons and evenings will be dedicated to fresh and diverse musical performances. Attendees can ride the cable car up the mountain and listen to talented performers on a stage perched atop the Sierra Nevadas. It’s a setting like no other, with a line-up to match. Michael Franti & Spearhead, Spoon, Andrew Bird, Jenny Lewis, Broken Social Scene, Gillian Welch and Girl Talk will lead the collection of acts.
Limit your carbon footprint
Wanderlust aims to limit its impact on the environment and support locally grown food. The festival will provide organic, sustainably farmed foods and will set up a farmers’ market on site. Wanderlust also focuses on carbon offsets, reusability, sustainability and other greening initiatives.
