I’m back from a vacation in Egypt — with new energy and inspiration. Now that I’m back at the gym, thinking about the challenges workers faced to build those magnificent monuments brings to mind one of my favorite mantras, “I can” … and how this simple statement can motivate you to try new things, like the hot workout buzz that was all around me when I returned from my trip: kettle bells!

There are many ways to intensify your workout. Adding an element that you don’t usually add can bring up the calorie expenditure. Here are three of my favorites:
1) Add an empowering affirmation when you’re doing your cardio workout. I love this technique because it engages you on a physical, mental, and emotional level. The biggest challenge we have when training is to stay engaged at a level that will increase our strength and endurance.

Whenever you’re growing or entering new territory, you’ll feel fear. But the problem isn’t the fear — it’s letting fear hold you back. The beautiful thing is that fear can be greatly diminished in your life when you feel the fear and take action anyway.
