Optimism Is Infectious, and It’s Out There
I don’t watch regular TV news because I am not desensitized to the hype and hysteria of the ‘if it bleeds it leads’ mentality. However, with a new administration taking office (yay!) there seems to be an air of optimism everywhere, even in the news. I flipped on my set to watch my favorite news show: Rachel Maddow, and while channel surfing during commercials, I saw great stories about kindness and good deeds.
Perhaps this is some of the fallout (pun intended) from the Miracle on the Hudson January 15, when a plane crashed into the Hudson River yet everyone was saved.
Whatever is going on, I am thrilled about this new positive outlook! Besides being a firm believer in the law of attraction, I know that kindness is contagious. I smile at strangers all the time (unusual in NYC) and often witness their entire presence being uplifted. According to proponents of the law of attraction, thoughts have an energy that attracts similar energy. In order to control this energy, they say you must practice four things: Know what you want, ask the universe for it, feel and behave as if the object of your desire is on its way, and be open to receiving it.
Since so much of who we are begins at home, always be mindful about what energy you are allowing in to your sacred space. Cultivate kindness in words, acts and thoughts. Besides my daily yoga practice, I also use the Internet to a great extent to support these ideas. Some inspirational articles and resources to check out:
