I am sitting on the beach in Brazil. The sun is beginning to set. The waves are crashing; no one is around me but my girlfriend and a beautiful young native man running up and down the beach. His skin is so dark it shines and his naturally muscled body moves effortlessly and confidently. I doubt he spends much time at the local gym since there is only one in town and I have only seen tourists there. He looks like it is the way he lives his life that sculpted his body. Then I realize it is the same for all of us. Our body reflects how we live our life. How do you live each day? What do you eat? How much do you sleep? How much do train your body and how much do you play?

I am here for a two weeks and I am in heaven. But before I got here I was worried about not working out every day and keeping up with my routine, so I decided to play a lot. An average day here is: up at 9 a.m., meditate for 30 minutes, then breakfast. Fresh squeezed juices, home made cakes, breads, pastries, and any kind of eggs you would like. We walk to the local gym. It doesn’t open till the afternoon on the weekends. But we asked, and they agreed to open for us on Saturday at 9 a.m. That would never happen in New York!

We finish our workout then go back to the Pousada to pack for the beach. The beach is stunning and empty. We are here just before the high season. We walk for at least an hour to get to “the” spot where, while we sit, we will be served beautifully grilled meats and fish and, if you wish, the local beverage, Capirinia. We swim, play paddle ball, do yoga at sunset, and walk back home. Ah! We take a little nap and get ready for dinner. And start all over again.

I feel rejuvenated, inspired, energetic, and happy. I have decided to add more playtime to my life and keep the child alive in my heart, adding youthfulness to my spirit and body. I love my life! Do you??
