“Glass half full” is step 1 in getting healthier

In all my experiences as a fitness trainer for all types of people, I have never met anyone who thought they were doing everything they could to take care of themselves.

I’ve been in the fitness industry for two decades. We are so much smarter now about how our bodies work — yet we are facing some of the greatest health epidemics in history. One of the biggest issues is we’re too busy to take time for ourselves; we just want that quick fix. I see so many people spending oodles of time, energy and money chasing down the latest diets, gimmicks and pills in hopes that they will look better, feel healthier or live longer. But the secret to healthy living is only this: “There is no secret!” It’s a combination of many factors that make up a healthy way of life.

Still, over the years I have learned that a positive attitude is the first thing needed to keep your journey toward a healthy lifestyle on track. If there’s one thing my kids will remember about me when I go to my grave, it’s “a glass half full always tastes better than a glass half empty.” It’s about mental attitude. So my goal is to motivate you!

I hope you’ll make one of the many factors of your healthy lifestyle a quick read of my Gaiam blog every week. I will cover all kinds of workout techniques and newsworthy information on health, fitness and nutrition. I’ll help you get your body moving, eat healthy and think positively. We are all in this journey together! I hope my tips and perspective will improve your life, even if in the smallest of ways.

Life is crazy, but we don’t have to be!

Stay tuned for more!

  1. Hi there!

I read your article and I think you really hit the spot saying that we’re too busy to take the time needed for exercise. I’ll be checking this blog out later for sure!

  2. Hi Chris,
I totally agree with you especially with how your attitude plays a crucial role in your health. I own a small green business in NH and we make organic skin care. Many people ask me why they are suffering from eczema if they live a “healthy lifestyle”. I always say: you need to be happy. It’s hard to stay *zen* toward things we cannot control or other people behaviors. It’s the same basic thing, you can control HOW you react to those external stimulus.
    Just a thought.
