How many times a day do you look in the mirror and wish you didn’t look how you look or worry about how old you are getting? Do you ever stand there and point out all the things you don’t like? Do you ever walk down the street saying how stupid you are or how you wish you were prettier or smarter?

Five years ago I began a spiritual journey. I wanted to know, how can I be happy? Why am I so unhappy? I am always struggling and fighting with myself to “get better”. I had just ended a 7 year relationship and I sold my company. I had so many questions about what to do and whom to love. Whom do I want to become? I felt scared to make the wrong choice and I felt excited about rebuilding my life. In the midst of all this questioning I began to get answers and signs. I want to be happy. I want to make a difference and help others. I want to like myself. I want to wake up! What came out of all that questioning and searching were many teachers, many books, many tears, sessions with healers, and conversations with friends. The product of that searching was the creating of my new business and personal development program, intenSati. I think the best way to describe it is to say it is the practice of self love and appreciation put into an exercise class.

I have declared this year to be the year where we ask ourselves: “Why am I here? What is my purpose?” So I call this year the year we train like athletes for the “soul” Olympics.

I just read a book called “Living the Low Carb Life” by Jonny Bowden. What I really liked about it was the way it educated me about sugar and high carbohydrate foods. I have always loved these foods and have fought with myself over and over about how I shouldn’t, but I want to, oh it is ok, just once, never again …. Or, I can burn it off, or, I work out so much I am sure it won’t matter.

I am sitting on the beach in Brazil. The sun is beginning to set. The waves are crashing; no one is around me but my girlfriend and a beautiful young native man running up and down the beach. His skin is so dark it shines and his naturally muscled body moves effortlessly and confidently. I doubt he spends much time at the local gym since there is only one in town and I have only seen tourists there. He looks like it is the way he lives his life that sculpted his body. Then I realize it is the same for all of us. Our body reflects how we live our life. How do you live each day? What do you eat? How much do you sleep? How much do train your body and how much do you play?

Happy Holidays!
In the blink of an eye, one more year will be behind you. In 2008 you can continue on the path you’re on, or you can make a shift. What will you choose?
You know that to make your body stronger you must challenge it. It is the same for willpower and courage. To get more courage, you must face your fears. To increase willpower, you must use the power of your will.

If you knew you could handle anything that came your way, what would you possibly have to fear? Nothing! Absolutely nothing.
I am always faced with the fear of failure because I’m always wanting to try new things and do more than I have done before. But all you have to do to handle fear is build trust in your ability to handle whatever comes your way!

Whenever you’re growing or entering new territory, you’ll feel fear. But the problem isn’t the fear — it’s letting fear hold you back. The beautiful thing is that fear can be greatly diminished in your life when you feel the fear and take action anyway.
